Privacy Policy

ViewKit is built around one promise: the contents of your data files never leave your browser. This policy explains that promise, and describes the limited information the service handles through analytics, advertising, feedback and hosting.

Your files are processed locally

When you open a data file, it is read and parsed entirely on your device using WebAssembly and JavaScript running in your browser tab. Your file contents are never uploaded, transmitted, logged, or stored on any server. No server ever receives them. You can disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and continue using the app.

Cookies

ViewKit itself stores only a theme preference in your browser's local storage. The third-party services described below, Google Analytics and Google AdSense, set their own cookies when their scripts run.

Advertising

ViewKit uses Google AdSense to serve advertising. Advertising never has access to the contents of your files, which are never sent anywhere.

Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you may opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices, or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

Third-party ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on this site. You can review the vendors Google works with, and their privacy policies, on the Google advertising partners page, and opt out of personalized advertising from participating vendors at the links above. Further detail on how Google uses information from sites that use its services is available in Google's advertising policies.

Usage analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand traffic and how the app is used: which pages are visited, the approximate region a visit comes from, and general device and browser information. Analytics never receives the contents of your files. Google sets cookies to provide this measurement. See Google's privacy policy, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Feedback you send

If you send feedback through the form on our site, your message and the email address you provide are transmitted to us through our hosting provider and delivered to our inbox, so that we can reply and improve the product. This is the only feature that sends information you type to a server, and it never includes your file contents. We do not use your email address for marketing.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamps) to serve the site securely and reliably. This is governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Your choices

You can opt out of analytics and manage or opt out of personalized advertising through the links above. To ask about the information we hold (analytics data and any feedback you have sent), email us and we will act on your request. Analytics data is retained according to Google's settings and policies.

Children

ViewKit is a developer tool and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the date above.
